Mudmee Luk Gaew Thai Silk Shawl #11 Woven with 100% handwoven Thai silk. Approximately 24.5"x77".
This shawl is made with a very high quality tightly woven brocade silk. When you look closely at the silk you will see a small repeating diamond shaped pattern. This brocaded pattern is called "Luk Gaew" in Thai. The many colored main design is made using the traditional mudmee technique. The amazing aspect of this shawl is that the brocade and mudmee designs are both woven at the same time. This type of weaving can only be done by highly experienced weavers. The dyeing of the yarn and weaving takes 2 to 3 days per shawl.
Please note that the photographs do not do the silk justice, and that in real life the silk takes on a new dimension and looks much more alive.
